ASIX Electronics AX22011 Block Diagram

The AX22011 integrates TCP/IP and 802.11 WLAN MAC/Baseband with a high performance dual-CPU architecture that includes 1-Mbyte of shared Flash as program memory, 64-kbyte of data memory, 32-kbyte of Wi-Fi data memory, a TCP/IP accelerator, 802.11a/b/g compatible WLAN MAC/Baseband, Fast Ethernet MAC, and communication peripherals. It targets applications that need access to the wired/wireless LAN or Internet. There are eight full ports offering a total 64 controllable IO lines (GPIO). The AX22011's data memory for is expandable up to 2-Mbyte through the External Memory Interface.

The dual-CPU architecture of AX22011 utilizes the host processor core for applications and TCP/IP processing and the Wi-Fi processor core for WLAN protocol processing and Ethernet to WLAN packet format translation. The built-in WLAN MAC and Baseband processor are compatible with IEEE 802.11a/b/g standard, and support security features compatible with 802.11i and QoS features compatible with IEEE 802.11e, and support operation in Infrastructure or Ad-Hoc (IBSS) network topology.

To help designers evaluate and develop with AX22011 platform, ASIX provides technical support information in a Development/Reference Design Kit. The kit includes the hardware and software application notes, user guides, schematics, PCB layout guide, and the firmware C source code for the AX22011 with free of charge. In addition, ASIX also offers several versions of the platform. Keil, IAR, DCD, Micrium, and FreeRTOS.org are among those companies providing third-party development-tool support.
