Ramtron VRS51L2070 Block Diagram

The VRS51L2070 is an 8051-based microcontroller that reaches 40 MIPS and features the same instruction set as standard 8051s. The device incorporates 64-kbyte ISP/IAP Flash, 4-kbyte SRAM, a 40 MHz precision internal oscillator, an enhanced hardware arithmetic and division unit with 32-bit barrel shifter for DSP operations, a JTAG-USB interface for in-circuit programming/ debugging/emulation, a configurable system clock, UARTs with baud rate generator and micro baud rate adjustment, enhanced SPI, I²C, PWCs and PWMs, general purpose timers/counters, a watchdog timer, 49 interrupts that share 16 interrupt vectors, and a port change and pin change interrupt.

Features include a 40 MHz internal oscillator, an enhanced hardware arithmetic unit that features 16-bit multiplication/division, 32-bit addition, and a 32-bit barrel shifter for DSP operations, a JTAG-USB interface for in-circuit programming/ debugging/emulation, a highly configurable system clock, UARTs with a dedicated baud rate generator (20-bit equivalent resolution), enhanced SPI, I²C, PWCs and PWMs, general purpose timers/counters, a watchdog timer, 49 interrupts that share 16 interrupt vectors, and a port change and pin change interrupt. The VRS51L2070 operates at 3.3 volts over the entire industrial temperature range and features 5V-tolerant I/Os. It is available in a QFP-64 package.

The VersaKit-30xx development and evaluation system facilitates system prototyping and design development with the VRS51L2070. The kit ships with a VJTAG-USB in-circuit programming/debugging interface, programming/in-circuit debugging software, and demo programs. The VersaKit-30xx can also be used to evaluate Ramtron's FRAM memory devices.
