AVR Design Support

Atmel AVR microcontroller families have a single unified tool chain that simplifies migration between different feature and memory configurations, as well as between 8- and 32-bit AVR microcontrollers. The free AVR Studio IDE offers evaluation, simulation, C and assembly code creation, and debugging of the tinyAVR, megaAVR, AVR XMEGA, AVR Segments, and AVR UC3 families. AVR Starter Kits include the STK500 (AVR) and STK600 (AVR, XMEGA, UC3). Debuggers and programmers are offered with the high-end AVRONE!, the JTAGICE mkII, AVR Dragon, and AVRISP mkII. All tinyAVR, megaAVR, and AVR XMEGA microcontrollers are C and binary-code compatible, with pin-compatible options at the margins of the various feature sets.

Reference designs and evaluation kits include the $20 AVR Butterfly, battery chargers (BC100), a network gateway (NGW100), USB and RF combo (USBRF01), and the 2.4 GHz wireless RZ Raven evaluation kit. Atmel's microcontroller families have online support with FAQ's code examples and complete reference manuals, datasheets and application notes.
