Synopsys acquired Virage Logic this year which formerly acquired ARC. Synopsys' DesignWare ARC processors include the 32-bit DesignWare ARC 600 and 700 families of configurable RISC/DSP cores, configurable extensions and software and a full suite of development tools. Synopsys' DesignWare ARC processors enable SoC designers to customize the core to their target application.
All DesignWare ARC cores utilize a 16-/32-bit ISA that provides both RISC and DSP capabilities in a unified architecture. The cores may be used as-is, or customized to meet application requirements ranging from ultra-small task-specific controllers to powerful, robust application processors with more than 1650 DMIPS of performance. The DesignWare ARC cores are synthesizable, can be implemented in standard foundry processes, and are supported by a range of development tools.
