The MSP430G2xx Value Line microcontrollers are part of the MSP430 portfolio, offering the same 16-bit architecture and ultra-low power performance with devices starting at $0.25 USD (100k units). Currently, 27 devices make up the MSP430G2xx series, offering between 0.5 to 2-kbytes of Flash, 128-bytes of RAM, 16 MIPS CPU, 10 GPIO ports, 16-bit general purpose timers, and configurations featuring 8 channel 10-bit ADC, comparators, and/or USI (I²C/SPI) functionality. The MSP430G2xx devices are available in 14-pin DIP, 14-pin TSSOP, or 14-pin QFN packages.

Moving forward, larger memory sizes of up to 16-kbytes Flash and 1-kbytes RAM will become available, as well as larger pin options. Additionally, hardware UART and capacitive touch I/O ports will be introduced to the MSP430 microcontroller Value Line family. The company plans to offer more than 100 Value Line devices in the MSP430G2xx series.

Value Line devices are supported by the new MSP-EXP430G2 LaunchPad development kit. LaunchPad offers a complete hardware and software development platform for $4.30 USD. This development kit features an on-board flash emulation tool for programming and debugging over USB, DIP target socket supporting up to 20 pins, 2 programmable pushbuttons, and 2 programmable LEDs.
